Sapac Wilga 2000 (no.1....)

status:crashed (many times...)

The Wilga 2000 meets the demands of float flyers in many ways. It has all the clean and efficient lines of full size pontoons and has the ability to float and lift heavy planes into the air, while adding very little weight to the aircraft. Because of its design, your aircraft will track straight and cut smoothly through the water from initial throttle advance through the step and into the air. Once in the air, you will experience great flying characteristics and performance. And Just like many advanced full size float planes your aircraft will take off and land not only from the water, but from grass and snow too. We highly recommend Wilga 2000 for the beginner and experienced flyer.

  • Wingspan: 1160mm (45.7 in)
  • Overall Length:  888mm (35 in)
  • Flying Weight: 550g (19.4 oz)
  • Float Plane: 600g (21.16 oz)
  • Wing Area: 16.82dm?
  • Wing Loading: 35g/dm?

Hobbyking Junkers JU-52 1200mm (PNF)

status:crashed  (finally!!!)

The Junkers JU-52, or "Iron Annie" as it was nicknamed was originally developed as an Airliner and transport and served in Germany from 1932 until 1945, unsuprisingly, it was pushed into military service and was even used as a medium bomber for a short period. So succesful was the JU-52 that licence built version's were still being used as a civil and military carrier right up to the 1980's. The H-King JU-52 is a model of the Lufthansa operated aircraft regularly seen at airshows around Europe and is painted in the historical 1936 Deutsche Lufthansa scheme.

My model was flying with an electric outrunner motor equivalent to the .46 nitro .  I was using a 5000mah 4S battery  plus an extra  small battery for the receiver. Thi ssetup provided the plane long flying times  and lots of power  at takeoff .
For the first time I installed a   kill swith  which was more  a kill cable than a real switch . It consisted of a small piece of thicj silicon wire  and  two  male 4mm plugs in the ends . This was attched on the female plugs  that were glued on the plane  and  it was closing the cirquit. Easy and safe for the hands .
The plane was lost due to my inexperience  and a little bad luck. I entered it in front of the sun   and for some moments I was not able to see  at all . Result....??  Crash of course.... !! !!

Regardless my fault , the plane was very stable at  its flight . Very  easily manueverable  and  very good construction . This series of models  made by Thunder Tiger  is made of ABS plastic . The body  is strengthened  with some plastic parts/ribs  and the wings are filled with  foam . Very good idea  as the model  is very easy to transport  in the car with no damage . It is also very easy to paint  and to clean . The only disadvantage is  that  it is a littlee more heavy  if you compare it  with a similar size balsa/ply model.
My opinion? I would reccomend it to everybody even  to a beginner . Tips ? use  good quality cianoacrylic glue  for the plastic parts   and a good epoxy glue to attach teh wings  and the engine mount plate. I also removed the wheels and used bigger ones in order to  be able to land .. everywhere ....
